We made it!

We arrived in Lima Peru on Saturday at 11 PM local time and quickly made our way to our hotel, which was located in Miraflores, a suburb of Lima. Sunday morning was free time, and the fellows enjoyed a variety of activities including walking along the waterfront, shopping, sampling the local cusine, and attending church. While we were all missing our sweathearts on Valentine's Day, we did take solace in the fact that our fellow members of Class 39 have become a second familty by this point in the program, and spending time together is always a treat.

Sunday afternoon was spent on a guided tour of Lima, including an ancient monastary whose basement was filled with the bones of 25,000 early residents of Lima. While somewhat disturbing, it was a good reminder of the temporary nature of life, and our own frailty.

Sunday evening was spent enjoying another meal among the jovial and somewhat nocturnal residents of Peru's largest city.

  2. John:

I don’t know if you can access p&p email. I can’t get much done to contact you through the blog, but I’ll try when I get home.

John Kennedy dropped in and talked with Chad today. I guess the Spaniards wanted a quote from him on some pumps, but John wants an OK from an engineer before he bids on certain equipment.

What came out of your 2-hour visit with the Spaniards on Wednesday?

Will a Mike Ribeiro-type proposal for sand flushing scenarios work?

    Thanks. Jason
